Boardwalk Hierarchy change across Alney Island - Black (potentially steel) raised gantry walk connects with Timber boardwalk. The Timber board walk then leads towards the Wetland Centre and continues around through the site. The Wetland can be clearly viewed in an evening/early morning lighting. This visual represents the tranquil setting, aimed at capturing the essence of how a wetland reserve should be experienced by the public. This area creates a duality between the neighbouring Gloucester City, which juxtaposes the hard and soft landscape.

Three main green houses contain hydroponic vertical farms, as well as other organic food production systems. This space will be owned by Gloucester County Council, yet maintained by a small group of keen local people and open to the use of the wider public.
